Ski Season has begun – Go and discover Font Romeu and Pyrenees 2000

There has been some heavy snow in the mountains around our villas and the ski conditions are currently excellent. Whilst down in Fuilla vallley it is often warm and sunny during the day, – we had a barbecue when we were there at Christmas – just a 45 minutes drive up the mountain takes you to a variety of ski resorts to suit all abilities.
Here are some links to the web-sites with all the information you will need to plan your ski-ing:

Fort Liberia
Both the villages of Molitg and Fuilla are in the heart of the Conflent and are about a 10 minute drive away from the larger market town of Prades. There is a wide range of shops in Prades and a weekly street market where lots of independant fruit growers and bakers offer their delicious wares. Several wineries are also in the area which you can visit to taste and buy local wines.
Conflent is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the villa at Fuilla is about to be included in a national nature reserve. The surrounding foothills of the pyrenees offer many opportunites for outdoor activities including walking, cycling, climbing, canyoning, fishing, skiing and white water rafting.
The freshwater lake at Vinca is 10 km from Prades and offers a sandy beach, swimming and water sports. The mediterranean beaches are a bit further away, about 45 mins drive to the big beach at Argeles. Smaller and less commercial beaches are at the artist retreat Colliure and Le Racou, a pretty seaside village with a good sandy beach.
Skiing is just an hours drive away in the resorts of Font Romeu and Les Ingles. We can help organise ski rental and ski passes or you can drive up there with one of the sledges available at the house for an afternoon of sledging! The season usually runs from early December to April.
Molitg Village
There is a friendly and reasonably priced restaurant and bar in the village: L’Estaca which is open every lunchtime and evening and has live music regularly on Saturday evenings. They have also recently started offering free WIFI access to anyone who goes for a drink and would like to bring their laptops with them.
There are several other very good restaurants just down the hill in Molitg-Les-Bains where there is also the Grand Hotel Les Thermes which offers a range of spa treatments in its natural hot springs bath and treatment centre.
Fuilla Village
Fuilla is a quiet village with a bar and restaurant which also sells bread. Villefranche de Conflent is just 3 miles away and there is a large selection of restaurants available in this pretty, medieaval walled village. Also close by is the town of Vernet-les-bains which offers a full range of spa treatments available in the natural hot spring baths.
